A single project can open the doors for many people. Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Collaborative Research Project

For the past two years, Setareh Ghahari has been immersed in a collaborative research project with scholars at the University of Gondar (UoG) that aims to examine the many barriers faced by students with disabilities in Ethiopian universities and how to improve their access to education.

Participating in the project was an opportunity Dr. Ghahari couldn’t pass up, given her research focus on improving access to health care and services, specifically for those with a disability, and her interest in exploring practices in other countries.

Rehabilitation Science PhD Student Receives CIHR Doctoral Research Award

On April 17th, 2018, Kyle Vader, incoming PhD student in the Rehabilitation Science Program, was awarded a Frederick Banting and Charles Best Canada Graduate Scholarship through the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR). CIHR Doctoral Research Awards are valued at $105 000 over three years and include a $30,000 trainee stipend and $5,000 research allowance per annum.

QEII Scholars Blog Series – “Surviving polio in Nigeria”

This article was contributed by Surajo Sulaiman, a doctoral student in the Rehabilitation Science program. Surajo is a physiotherapist by training and throughout his career has worked as a clinician, primarily with persons with physical disabilities in Nigeria. Through his research, Surajo hopes to improve the quality of life of polio-survivors and other persons with disabilities in Nigeria.
