Each quarter, we will be highlighing the career of Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program alumni. For this first edition we focus on Dr. Eshetu Engeda, Cohort 2 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Rehabilitation Science Alumni
Dr. Eshetu Engeda, is a Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Alumni who completed his Ph.D. in October 2022 in Rehabilitation Science at Queen’s University. More specifically, he studied ‘Severe Malaria- related Disability Among Children in Northwest Ethiopia’. Dr. Engeda believes that his Ph.D. experience at Queen’s University with the Mastercard Foundation increased his research capacity, leadership skills, teaching skills and enhanced his overall capacity. With these increased skills Dr. Engeda returned to the University of Gondar and is demonstrating his commitment to advancing scholarly pursuits in the field by serving as the coordinator for Ph.D. research and seminar programs within the School of Public Health. Dr. Engeda also serves as the chair of the qualitative research team within the Health Sciences College at the University of Gondar, underscoring his leadership in advancing qualitative research methodologies within the academic community.
Dr. Engeda’s many diverse engagements – which also include his position as Associate Editor of the Disability, CBR, and Inclusive Development Journal – highlight the significant impact he is having in academia, research, and institutional leadership across the University of Gondar!
