Description of Area or Topic of Research: The ICACBR has been collaborating with colleagues in West Africa on community based participatory research (CBPR) in health equity and inclusive education systems for persons with disabilities and their families. The objective of this project is to make CBPR a sustainable practice for all partner institutions moving forward. As part of this project, we are delighted to offer an opportunity to a doctoral student, with preference given to women applicants, to apply for a travel and subsistence grant to travel to Ghana to support the implementation of community based participatory research (CBPR) methods with community partner organizations. You may also collaborate with local scholars to complete knowledge transfer workshops on CBPR at the partner institutions.

Opportunity: Funded Master's admission and employment for Spanish speakers on a global community-engaged research project

Description of Area or Topic of Research: The ICACBR is providing the opportunity for aspiring disability and rehabilitation leaders with fluency in both English and Spanish to complete a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science (RHBS) at Queen’s, with a project that supports an ongoing global case study, ‘Balancing Act.’ Balancing Act is a project in which researchers based at Queen’s University in Canada are working with people at six different countries in order to understand how disability-related supports for families might best be balanced to value and uphold natural support from the community, while supplementing with formal support as needed. The successful applicant will be involved in the implementation of this project, with a special focus on the Guatemala case study for the Master’s degree thesis
