Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – Fieldwork Educator Award of Excellence | School of Rehabilitation Therapy

Each year, the occupational therapy program at Queen's University is able to nominate one preceptor for the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists (CAOT) - Fieldwork Educator Award of Excellence. Nominations for this award are sought in the fall of each academic year. To be eligible for the award nominees must be a member of CAOT. The purpose of this award is to acknowledge excellence in clinical teaching, student mentorship and inspirational leadership in professional practice. The nominee is presented to CAOT and is approved by the Board of Directors. Award winners are announced annually at the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists' Awards Ceremony, published in Occupational Therapy Now and posted on the Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists' website. 2024 Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – Fieldwork Educator Award of Excellence

Katelyn Bridge - OT

Katelyn graduated from the Queen's Occupational Therapy program in 2016. Katelyn has worked for Modern OT Occupational Therapy Services since 2018, where she provides services to clients through a variety of referral streams, including auto insurance, the Department of National Defence (DND) and the Workplace Insurance Safety Board (WSIB). In addition to her clinical work, Katelyn has also been involved with the School of Rehabilitation Therapy as a Teaching Fellow and Term Adjunct Lecturer in the Occupational Therapy program. She is also a Doctoral Candidate at Queen's in the Doctor of Science, Rehabilitation and Health Leadership Program. Katelyn is passionate about mentorship and fostering the development of students and new graduate OTs as they navigate the opportunities and complexities of working in community-based private practice.

2021 Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – Fieldwork Educator Award of Excellence

Amanda Hall, OT

Amanda completed her occupational therapy degree at Queen’s University and has had diverse experiences working in both physical and mental health settings. Currently she owns her own private practice within the Kingston area, specializing in women’s health and is passionate about providing mentorship and learning opportunities to student OTs who have an interest in learning more about the OT role in women’s health. She feels fortunate to be able to offer fieldwork experiences adapted to the changes in learning and working within a pandemic. Amanda is honoured to be nominated for this award and looks forward to continuing to offer fieldwork experiences in the future.

Sarah Hanna, OT

Sarah graduated from Queen’s Occupational Therapy program in 2015 and has worked as an OT in the fields of developmental disabilities and mental health. Sarah was privileged to have been placed with amazing educators during her time as a student and currently is surrounded by clinicians who demonstrate high levels of client-centeredness, empathy and professionalism. She strives to create a safe, enriching, and positive learning environment for students and is honoured to have been nominated for this award. She looks forward to continual growth as an educator, learning from those around her including future students.

Queen’s University Winner for the 2019 Canadian Association of Occupational Therapists – Fieldwork Educator Award of Excellence

Ms. Yoon Andrews, OT

Yoon graduated from the Queen's Occupational Therapy program in 2014 and is currently working at Providence Care Hospital. Yoon enjoys offering mental health fieldwork positions to students studying Occupational Therapy and since supervised 13 OT and two OTA students. Yoon has a passion for working with people with mental health illnesses and loves to share this passion with her students. Yoon is honored to have been nominated for the CAOT fieldwork educator Award and will strive to continue to offer great fieldwork experiences and learning opportunities to her students.

Ms. Ellie Lambert, OT

Queen’s University Nominee for the 2018 Canadian Association of Occupational Therapist – Fieldwork Educator Award of Excellence Ellie completed her Occupational Therapy degree at Queens University and has since practiced in a number of settings in the mental health field including working with youth, in the correctional system, and currently in a community mental health day program. Ellie has had the privilege to learn from many inspiring OTs as a student and a clinician. She now has the pleasure of working with passionate and talented student OTs both in her clinical setting and as an academic assistant and supervisor within the Queen's MSc OT program. Ellie is grateful for the opportunity to help students grow as professionals while continuing to learn from those she mentors.
