Reviews the categorization of sex offenders as suffering from major psychiatric disorders, antisocial personality disorders, or paraphilia. The potential role of occupational therapy in treatment is discussed in relation to the existence of social skills deficits and goals involving the acceptance of responsibility, behavior management, resocialization, and posttreatment support. The case of a 21-yr-old man illustrates objectives related to the achievement of occupational competency, habits and skills to improve role competency, and adequate functioning in social roles.
