Queen's University Initiative for Social Enterprise & Disability

This Initiative is committed to bringing together entrepreneurs, researchers, disability organizations, policy makers, students and other stakeholders to advance innovative and evidence-informed social entrepreneurship for people with disabilities and other sources of employment disadvantage. Our mission is based in the belief that people with disabilities who choose to work should have access to the full spectrum of work options that exist in the contemporary workforce and that they have the right to control their own work life. The initiative has a particular focus on work opportunities emerging within the social economy. With the growth of this economic sector comes much potential for work that is meaningful both personally and socially, but also the need to advance knowledge, ethics and practice in the area. Our research is inter-disciplinary and participatory, limited only by the imagination and entrepreneurial spirit of our partners.
