T. (1988). Treatment of the sexually/physically abused female inmate: Evaluation of an intensive short-term intervention program. Journal of Offender Counseling Services Rehabilitation, 12(2), 131-143. Abstract Tested whether 15 sexually or physically abused female inmates would show (1) increased self-esteem; (2) increased perceived control over their lives; (3) increased trust in others; and (4) reduced alienation from others during a 16-wk treatment program. Measures used included a background questionnaire, a self-esteem scale, an alienation scale, and Rotter's Internal-External Locus of Control Scale. Results indicate that Ss (1) increased self-esteem; (2) increased trust in others; (3) reduced alienation; and (4) showed a marginally significant increase in perceived control.
