Background. Psychodrama was developed by J. L. Moreno who first used it in prison in 1925. Psychodrama has therefore been employed in correctional settings for many years and is considered especially appropriate with delinquents (Cromer, 1978; Yablonsky, 1976). Only a few empirical studies, however, have tested the efficacy of psychodrama with offenders (Adams & Vetter, 1981; Maas, 1966; Haskell, 1957). Their results are encouraging but further studies are needed to confirm the effectiveness of psychodrama in correctional settings.
