Each quarter, we will be highlighing the career of Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program alumni. In this edition we focus on Dr. Bekele Worku, Cohort 2 Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Rehabilitation Science Alumni
Dr. Bekele Worku is a Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program Alumni who graduated in June 2023. Since graduating, Dr. Worku has taken up the position of Faculty Development and Alumni Engagement Coordinator with the Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program at the University of Gondar. In this role, he collaborates closely with the Queen’s team and extends comprehensive support to Fellows and alumni upon their return to Ethiopia, drawing from his personal experiences and expertise to facilitate their successful reintegration. Concurrently, Dr. Worku imparts his knowledge in the Faculty of Law through the delivery of diverse Human Rights courses, with a specific emphasis on Disability Rights Law, where he also serves as a respected member of the postgraduate research examination committee and the recruitment committee. Dr. Worku’s work also extends into the community, where he conducts targeted training sessions on disability rights for community members including activists affiliated with the Ethiopian Association of the Blind, exemplifying his multifaceted commitment to both institutional development and educational excellence!
