Two years after release, Ss postrelease arrest records were collected. Data were compared with a control group of 65 similar inmates who had applied for but were denied treatment because of space limitations. 10.4% of treatment Ss vs 15.6% of controls had additional DWI arrests after release. A group of 24 Ss who continued to participate in treatment after release had a rate of only 4.2% of DWI arrests. Reincarceration rates were as follows: Treatment (14.3%), Control (21.5%), and Aftercare (8.3%). (PsycINFO Database Record (c) 2016 APA, all rights reserved)
