Social Enterprise as an Employment Option for People with Intellectual and Developmental Disability

This project sought to identify the nature of social businesses in the intellectual and developmental disability sector, and strategies they use to advance choice, independence and social inclusion. The first phase of this project focused on identifying and describing social businesses for people with IDD operating in Canada. The second phase used a case study approach to examine practices of successful businesses for workers with IDD that lead to both sustainable business ventures and promote desired social outcomes for people with IDD.
