Occupational Therapist (OT) - Kingston, ON - Full Time

This role is specifically intended for a dynamic and experienced practitioner (minimum of 3 + years of experience required) who is familiar and comfortable working in the following areas: auto insurance, long term disability, employer services and WSIB with a keen interest in both mental and physical health.

The Lifemark Blackburn & Taylor Kidd clinic is an inter-disciplinary rehabilitation clinic located in a brand new modern facility in the west-end of Kingston. The clinic offers specialized programs and a collaborative approach to assessment and management of musculoskeletal and neurological disorders, concussion, mental health conditions, pelvic health, cancer rehabilitation, and a variety of other conditions. 

Responsibilities include:
-In-clinic interdisciplinary assessments and treatment planning
-Community based assessments to address client safety, attendant care other and ADLs and IADLs
-Insurer’s examinations and med-legal assessments
-Functional Capacity Evaluations (both physical and cognitive)
-Job demands analyses (both physical and cognitive), job coaching/accommodation and return to work planning
-Ergonomic assessments and education to clients 
-Educational sessions/presentations to stakeholders (disability management and wellness approaches)
-Pre-employment assessments
-Attendance at staff meetings and participation in case conferences and case management
-Regular report writing, charting and communication with team and stakeholders in a timely manner
-Networking with all stakeholders (both internal and external) to promote OT programs
-Marketing and business development to implement OT programs and drive growth
-Ensuring quality improvement in the delivery of client care
-Mentorship and support to junior-level OTs

-Registration and in good standing with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario
-Minimum 3 years as a Registered Occupational Therapist with relevant industry experience 
-Keen interest in assessment and management of clients with various physical conditions, mental health challenges and co-morbidities
-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while working both independently and as part of the team
-Possess superior time management and organizational skills
-Be autonomous and a proven self-starter with excellent oral and written communication skills
-Possess critical thinking and decision-making skills
-Be committed to ongoing professional development
-Passionate about OT and OT services

Our team includes nurse practitioners, registered nurses, social workers, pharmacists, dietitians, occupational therapists and other health care professionals who work with physicians as an interdisciplinary team to provide patient centred care. Duties & Responsibilities
- Conducts comprehensive assessments using interview, standardized tests and/or guided observation skills to obtain relevant health information and to identify factors influencing occupational performance.
- In collaboration with patient, physicians and other IHP’s, develop appropriate client-centred treatment plans and provide individual and/or group interventions designed to maximum performance of ADL.
- Refer to and work in partnership with community agencies and providers to support care.
- Educate and assist patients to identify appropriate community resources, programs and government services.
- Establish and maintain effective communication and collaboration with interdisciplinary healthcare professionals.
- Maintain documentation in accordance with college standards.
- Participate in program and resource development in collaboration with Therapy team.
- Diverse case load across the life span including but not limited to diagnoses such as dementia, chronic disease, chronic pain, and repetitive musculoskeletal injuries of the upper extremity.

- Bachelor or Masters of Science in Occupational Therapy
- Minimum of 5 years of experience is preferred, with experience in numerous areas of Occupational Therapy practice
- Valid registration with the College of Occupational Therapists of Ontario.
- Excellent communication skills; both written and verbal
- Excellent organizational, time management, critical thinking and problem solving skills
- Must be capable of establishing positive interpersonal relationships and able to work as an effective team member
- Demonstrated commitment to evidence-based practice
- Knowledge of and ability to mobilize community resources
- Flexibility in adapting to varying caseload needs
- Experience in the use of EMR, Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
- Must have a valid driver’s license, valid car insurance with regular access to a reliable vehicle and willing to travel to TVFHT sites
